PAPUAN STUDENTS COMMEMORATED THE 56th ANNIVERSARY OF NEW YORK AGREEMENT > 포토뉴스

A number of Papuan students who are members of the Papuan Student Alliance held a demonstration while commemorating 56th anniversary of the New York Agreement in front of the US Embassy in Jakarta on Thursday, August 15, 2019. In their actions, they considered the New York Agreement carried out in 1962 to be illegal because it did not involve the people of Papua, and there are only the United States, the Netherlands and Indonesia. They also urged the United States government responsible for West Papua's status as part of Indonesia which they consider a form of occupation, and immediately close the Freeport mine in West Papua.
